HEAD PSYCHOLOGIST
Stefania Herrera Guzman, MA, MSc
Multicultural Psychologist | Trauma-Informed Therapist | Researcher & Lecturer
Who Am I?
I am a multicultural counseling and clinical psychologist with a passion for trauma-informed therapy, expressive arts, and holistic mental health care. Born in Venezuela, raised in Curaçao, and trained in the Netherlands, my diverse background allows me to work with clients from various cultural identities with deep sensitivity and understanding.
Beyond my clinical work, I am a lecturer at CIEE Amsterdam, teaching psychology, trauma, and mental health to international students. I also contribute as a researcher and psychosocial intervention specialist at TheBridge2Hope, supporting survivors of human trafficking through trauma-informed interventions and research on alternative healing approaches.
My Approach
I believe in meeting clients where they are, helping them reconnect with their strengths, and guiding them toward sustainable healing through an integrative, evidence-based approach. My work blends scientifically backed psychological methods with expressive and somatic therapies, offering a personalized, culturally attuned, and holistic healing experience.
Trauma-Informed Therapy – Specializing in PTSD, complex trauma, and resilience-building.
Expressive & Somatic Therapies – Incorporating art therapy, writing therapy, psychodrama, and trauma-sensitive yoga.
Mindfulness & Breathwork – As a certified yoga therapist, I integrate meditation and breathwork to enhance emotional regulation.
Culturally Attuned & Research-Driven – Combining a global perspective with cutting-edge psychological insights to deliver the most effective interventions.
I work with individuals, couples, and groups from all backgrounds, including those navigating cultural transitions, trauma survivors, women’s mental health, and members of the LGBTQ+ community. I provide therapy in English and Spanish, ensuring accessibility to a diverse client base.
I stay at the forefront of psychological innovation through clinical supervision, peer collaboration, and ongoing professional development, ensuring my clients receive the most up-to-date and effective care.
Research & Special Projects
My master’s thesis focused on developing and implementing a trauma-sensitive yoga intervention for survivors of sexual exploitation, leading to published research and international conference presentations on alternative therapies for PTSD recovery.
I also conduct workshops, lectures, and training programs for mental health professionals, organizations, and universities on trauma-informed care, mindfulness-based interventions, and cross-cultural psychology.
My Commitment to You
I am dedicated to creating a supportive, empowering, and culturally sensitive space where clients feel safe to explore, heal, and grow. My goal is to help individuals regain a sense of agency, resilience, and well-being—wherever they are on their journey.
